February 4, 2010 | In: Business
James Arthur Ray; the noted motivational and self – help guru was arrested and put behind the bars by the police on the charges of brutal killing of 3 people at a sweat lodge ceremony. On Wednesday, 3rd of February 2009 the grand jury of Arizona indicted Ray for homicide charges.
The seat lodge ceremony; popularly known as ‘cleansing ceremony’ was held past year at the Angel Valley Retreat Center in which Kirby Brown, James Shore and Liz Neuman died. In addition to this, about 18 others were grievously injured. According to the Sheriff at Prescott, a bond of 5 million US dollars is being held against Ray for getting bail.
Ray at present is in the Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde and according to some sources; Ray will be making his first trial appearance in the court on this coming Thursday. According to the attorney of Ray, the alleged charges that has been put against him are absolutely unjustified and he would do his best to get Ray acquitted as soon as possible.
The case that has been lodged against Ray is a very tough one and the attorney of Ray would have a tough time to win the case. If Ray is found guilty of the charges that have been put against him, then he would have to undergo at least 3 years of imprisonment and a maximum of 12 years for each death encountered. Ray tried to defend himself by saying that the act that was performed past year under went serious accident and was not a criminal act at all. So it should not be viewed from the perspective of homicide. All depends upon the Thursday’s hearing about the future of Ray; whether he would be convicted or acquitted.
