Due to the excessive snow storm on Tuesday, 9th of February, the office of the Federal Government was closed and is supposed to be closed on Wednesday also. Due to the violent snow storm, the employees were unable to come out from their homes and hence the offices were suspended for 2 days. Yesterday, about 23 cm of snow fall occurred which forced about 230,000 workers to stay in their homes.
It is also expected that the snow storm would continue as if now and a further 9 cm of snow fall is expected. The impact of the snow storm was felt in the Washington area where all the flights were cancelled and it would take a day or so to get everything normal. All kinds of work were abandoned and people were having a difficult time to get their work done. These two days of the closure of Federal Government will be causing a lot of revenue loss and the pending work for the government employees would be on the high.
Some of the important government offices that remained closed are Office of Personal Management, OPM Operation Status, US Court of Appeal, Fairfax County Government, Fort Myer, NASA Space Flight Center, Social Security Center, Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles etc. You can watch all the related videos of closure of Federal Government and snow storm affecting the work on websites like You Tube, Torrent, Rapid Share and Mega Upload.
